'Growing Up Global' Author to Speak at The Saturday Club
The Saturday Club is pleased to announce that author and local resident Homa Tavangar will speak at the organization’s May membership meeting on May 8, 2012. Tavangar is the author of Growing Up Global: Raising Children to be at Home in the World.
One of the oldest women’s organizations in continuous existence in the country, The Saturday Club was founded in 1886, when women’s organizations were considered a radical idea. For the past 125 years, they have worked to support the local community through philanthropy. All Saturday Club meetings are open to guests, however space for Ms. Tavangar’s presentation may be limited. Please see RSVP information below.
Homa Tavangar resides in Berwyn, PA. Her first book, Growing Up Global was published by Random House and was named a Best New Parenting Book by Scholastic, among others. She advises organizations like PBS, Common Sense Media, KidsHealth, public and private schools across the country, and writes for national publications including the Huffington Post. Ms. Tavangar’s address to The Saturday Club will be an interactive and thought-provoking evening where she will cover topics including how to raise compassionate and globally-minded kids, overcoming picky eaters, and getting into the Ivy League, as well as issues such as work-life balance, realizing a dream, and finding your voice - in writing and in other spheres.
“In addition to serving our community through direct service and philanthropy, one of our goals at The Saturday Club is to provide compelling, educational programming at our monthly membership meetings,” said Jeanne Dechiario, Saturday Club president. “We are so pleased to be able to give our members and the larger community access to nationally-renowned speaker and writer like Homa Tavangar.”
The Saturday Club’s monthly membership meetings occur on the second Tuesday of each month, from September through May, at 7:15pm in our historic Clubhouse at 117 West Wayne Avenue in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Women interested in learning more about membership in the Club may visit our website at www.saturdayclub.org or send an email to membershsip@saturdayclub.org.
