Radnor Recreation’s Fall Harvest & Great Pumpkin Patch Event Rescheduled to Sunday, October 14th!
October 5th, 2012
Due to the forecast of inclement weather for this weekend, the Radnor Township Recreation & Community Programming Department has rescheduled its first Fall Harvest & Great Pumpkin Patch Event to Sunday, October 14th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm! Held at The Willows Park, 490 Darby-Paoli Road, Villanova, this community event will feature wonderful autumn-themed activities to get everyone in the fall spirit. Activities will include pumpkin picking, autumn spin art, hayrides, bounce houses, refreshments, and more!
The Fall Harvest & Great Pumpkin Patch Event will also feature pumpkin painting with the Wayne Art Center! After picking your favorite from the hundreds that we will have on hand, you can decorate your gourd before you take it home to proudly display.
Also taking place as part of the event from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at the Willows Cottage, will be an apple tasting sponsored by the Radnor Conservancy! There are over 2,000 varieties of apples and they come in all sizes, colors, and tastes! Learn something new about this fall season staple. Chef Budd Cohen will be our guide as we taste and compare apples that are locally grown but may not be as well-known as the apples we generally find in the grocery store. Folks must be present by 1:30 pm to participate. The cost is $5 for adults and children are free.
From 1:30 to 2:30 pm, witness the World’s Fastest Pumpkin Carver! Steve Clarke of Havertown, PA is the world record holder for The World's Fastest Pumpkin Carver. See what fancy creations he can whip up right in front of your eyes. It’s a can’t-miss sight! Participants will have the opportunity to purchase a larger pumpkin for a small fee and have Steve work his carving expertise!
This event for Radnor Township families is free to enter and features free and nominally priced activities. The Fall Harvest & Great Pumpkin Patch Event is sponsored by Christopher’s, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Chagrin Valley Engineering, Dilworth-Paxson LLP, Grim, Biehn & Thatcher, and Carol H. Axelrod Memorial Blood Drive. The Recreation & Community Programming Department would like to thank the students from the Villanova University Student Government Association for volunteering their time to help with the event.
