Armed Home Invasion on Upper Gulph Road
A man fought off his attackers, but not before they grabbed cash and jewelry.
A man was pistol whipped in a home invasion that took place Monday afternoon on Upper Gulph Road, just over the Radnor Township border.
According to 6ABC, 83-year-old Joseph Petrellis said he struggled with one thief while another backed a car into his driveway and came into the house.
"I very seldom open the door without knowing the person on the other side of that door. I made a very big mistake. Before you know, the gun was in my face," he told the TV station. "I never in 20 years living here, I never ever opened that door without knowing the person outside that door. I've never done that. Today was the only time I've done that in 20 years."

I see home invasion stories in the news almost every day. Usually intruders just kick-in the door. In my opinion, the most effective and least expensive thing you can do to protect yourself is to add good door security hardware to your doors to make them as secure as possible. You can get what's called a Door Security Pro ( http://www.DoorSecurityPro.com ) which will stop door kick-ins. It's a long, thick metal plate that reinforces wooden door frames which is what usually breaks when someone kicks in a door.

Indeed. And a modest guy who doesn't bother to note that it's his product he's promoting. Capitalizing on the misfortune of others is an admirable quality. And it doesn't diminish the fact that his product likely is an honest answer to a serious problem. Not at all.

This inventor/marketing wiz has shown even more cleverness and empathy by recommending his product in association with a crime that had nothing to do with door kick-ins. Mr Petrellus, the victim, admits he uncharacteristically opened the door to this unknown gunman. But, who knows, a super product like the Door Security Pro might be capable of preventing even that.
