Best Shopping Deal in Radnor is Outside the Stores

Read what Radnor Township agreed to do to boost holiday shopping.

Radnor Township will be allowing free parking in its parking lots and metered parking spaces every Saturday during the month of December.

The decision came about during a meeting between police and township officials and Wayne Business Association representatives this week.

Parking is always free on Sundays.

The township is proposing a $5 increase in parking ticket fees, from $15 to $20. At Tuesday's meeting members of the business association expressed concern with the increase, which would be part of the 2013 budget and fee schedule.

Great decision for free parking on Saturdays! Big issue is the Post Office parking....they are down to 2 employees and the line I stood in yesterday was 25 minutes long....I think the meters max out at 15 minutes....hope there is a plan to have the meter-reader steer clear of the Post Office through the end of the year!

Charlie, that was part of the conversation and the police said they would relax the ticketing there during the season. But I also heard that they might bring clerks back for the holidays.

This is great news, but will signage be posted on or near the meters? Most people will continue to feed them unless they are absolutely sure that parking is free.

Completely agree! They need to post signs or cover the meters so people know. If people parking are unsure they will continue to feed the meters!

Agree! What a great gift to the shoppers and merchants, but then how better to anger the public by not covering each meter! How disingenuous of the Township officials.

I thought the township faced millions in unfunded liabilities? Perhaps raising income is a better solution.

Merchants, please inform your employees to continue to park where they do and leave the spaces for customers. I have already informed my staff, please do the same to support our businesses. Its not a gift to anyone if employees hog the spots. Thank you!

So true. Thank you to the workers who do park somewhere besides on N Wayne Ave and Lancaster, every day. Disappointing to watch employees dash from their stores to plug their meters with the max amount of quarters while we shoppers circle the block waiting to luck into somebody pulling out of a spot.
