Men Get Themselves Locked In Constable's Van

The two from New Jersey have been charged with Criminal Attempt to commit Theft from a Motor Vehicle.

A Pennsylvania State Constable’s van is never a place you want to be locked in because it usually means you are on your way to jail.

But in the early morning on Saturday two men found themselves locked in a constable's van and going nowhere near East Lancaster Avenue in Rosemont.

According to Radnor Police, Jeffrey Olson, 22, and Ryan Letchford, 21, both of Marlton, New Jersey, attended a party in the area Saturday night and afterwards gained access to the parked van.

At about 4 a.m. police received a call from the men's friend who stated that they attended a party more  an hour prior and were then locked inside the constable’s van.

Constable Mike Connor said he apparently left a door unlocked in the Chevrolet van, which he owns and uses to transport offenders to and from prison. He said the men may have been in the van for as long as an hour.

Upon opening the van for Olson and Letchford, Connor said the two said they did not recall how they got into the van.

Olson and Letchford were arrested for Criminal Attempt to commit Theft from a Motor Vehicle, Public Drunkenness and Criminal Mischief.
