Police To Do DUI Patrols On Super Bowl Sunday
Checkpoints and DUI patrols will take place in Delaware County on Sunday.
According to a press release to the media, the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will be conducting a roving DUI patrol on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 05.
The press release was sent out by the Haverford Township Police Department Thursday afternoon.
Haverford Police Deputy Chief John Viola warned people to be safe on Super Bowl Sunday.
“This message is for everyone who will be drinking during the big game. Make the right play and pass your keys to a designated driver so they can get you home safely,” Viola stated in the press release. “There is no excuse to get flagged for a false start. The men and women of the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will be out to stop anyone who decides to drink and drive.”
The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce includes six municipalities—Haverford, Marple, Newtown, Radnor, Springfield and Upper Darby townships.
“The purpose of the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce is to save lives on the roadways and reduce injuries by aggressively enforcing DUI laws. Sobriety checkpoints are a proactive visual deterrent while also removing impaired drivers; roving patrols are traffic details with the main goals to spot and stop possible impaired drivers before they can cause harm to innocent unsuspecting motorists traveling on our roadways,” the press release stated.
The press release also stated the taskforce has arrested 68 drivers for DUI of alcohol or drugs and has “issued 26 citations for underage drinking and 355 citations and 317 warnings for other motor vehicle violations.”

Is you car inspected? Is your registration behind? Do you have any outstanding parking tickets in other areas? This is who get's nabbed in these Checkpoints. It has a very low conviction rate for drunk drivers. Ask your police chief why they do them. It's about Federal and State Grant money!
I hate them. I also do not drink, but hate being inconvenienced and asked for my papers like I am in Nazi Germany!
