Radnor Thefts: Baby Formula, Wallet and $2,500 Gift Card

See some of the crimes that took place in the last week of March.

The following information comes from police reports provided by the Radnor Township Police Department.

A woman stole about $150 worth of baby formula from Rite Aid in Wayne on the evening of Saturday, March 31.

According to employees, a woman fled the store with the formula heading west on West Lancaster Avenue.

According to police, the suspect is a woman wearing a dark navy blue hoodie and jeans that featured a white rectangle on the back.

A 77-year-old Wayne woman had her wallet stolen while she shopped at Bed, Bath and Beyond in St. Davids on March 27 around 4:00 p.m.

According to the police report, the victim noticed a man standing near her shopping cart, in which her purse sat. As she approached the cart the man walked away from the area.

One of the cards had been used in Philadelphia, the report states.

A resident of Hilaire Road in St. Davids reported on March 25 that a Trek Diamondback road bike valued at $500 to $800 had been taken from the property owner’s garage sometime recently.

A woman reported that her purse was stolen from Vasey Hall at Villanova University sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Sunday March 25 from an unlocked room. The purse contained ID cards, credit cards and a $2,5000 gift card to Tiffany.

According to the police report, the victim since went to a Tiffany store in New York to have the card replaced, but she was denied. A customer service employee told her that the card had been used, but would not tell or where or by whom, she told police.

The stolen purse is valued at $400; the wallet at $125. Both were of the brand Coach.

Also in Villanova near the university on Sunday, March 25, a burglary occurred on Tindall Lane between 9:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

According to the police report, the items that had been taken from the home included two iPods, a laptop computer, a pinky ring worth $2,500 and a gold pendant worth $3,000.

Someone paid for a pack of cigarettes at CVS in Wayne with a counterfeit $20 bill. According to the police report, on Monday March 26 around 7:15 p.m. a man wearing a black Phillies cap, dark colored hooded sweatshirt, and pair of jeans purchased a pack of Newport cigarettes with a counterfeit bill.

When the cashier realized the bill was fake he chased after the man, who sped off in a white-colored SUV, according to the report.

Sam, did you have to jump through the usual(recent) hoops with Radnor cops to get these police reports...or have they finally realized it's in their best interest to be open with the press and the community? This information is all important for us to know.

I am able to request police briefs through the Right to Know process and they are given to me usually the next day. This has been how I have been obtaining them for months now. So, nothing too new in the process.

Same old (recent) hoops, then. Ridiculous. Thanks for asking questions on our behalf, since the twp's top cop is obviously trying to keep things quiet. What's his update on the three unsolved jewelry store robberies in town?

Who cares what ethnicity the perps are? Yes, the guy with the counterfeit bill was probably African-American, the brand of cigarettes he bought are kind of a giveaway, but my white neighbor was caught PRINTING counterfeit money which is a lot worse than using it. Also, some counterfeit bills are so well made even the experts are fooled, so it's possible that the guy didn't even know it was fake.
