At its meeting on Monday Radnor Township’s Board of Commissioners will likely vote to settle with the former manager it fired four years ago.

According to the settlement document, Dave Bashore will release all claims to $277,508 in accrued leave and benefit pay, pay $80,000 to the township, and withdraw legal actions he has related to his 2009 termination.

Bashore was fired after eight years when the then-Board of Commissioners said he made hundreds of thousands of dollars of inappropriate expenditures and provided lump-sum bonuses to employees without board approval.

In the settlement, Radnor would agree to not pursue a $1 million “surcharge” action filed against Bashore in Delaware County’s Court of Common Pleas, and agrees to pay him a monthly pension benefit and other related benefits starting in 2018.

The township also agrees to sign and return any paperwork to allow Bashore access to his tax-deferred compensation account and after-tax retirement savings plan account, which Bashore said the township blocked his access to.

According to the document, an integral part of the settlement will be an asset disclosure affidavit from Bashore and his wife, Kelly. The reason, township solicitor John Rice told Radnor Patch, to prove Bashore's inability to pay more on the township’s judgement.
