Roving DUI Patrols Coming This Week

The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will be out the week of February 3.

The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will be conducting roving DUI patrols during the week of February 3.

The taskforce is comprised of six municipalities—Radnor, Haverford, Marple, Newtown, Springfield and Upper Darby townships—and has been in operation since September of 2009.

In the course of 38 operations in that time, the taskforce has arrested 80 drivers for DUI or drugs, issued 29 citations for underage drinking, and written 448 citations and 500 warnings for other motor vehicle violations.

The purpose of the taskforce is to save lives on the roadways and reduce injuries by aggressively enforcing DUI laws.

According to police, sobriety checkpoints are a proactive visual deterrent while also removing impaired drivers. Roving patrols are traffic details with the main goals to spot and stop possible impaired drivers before they can cause harm to motorists.

Good. There is no excuse for drinking and driving. Ever. I don't care if I get stopped.
