Sidewalk Sale for Sandy, First Friday in Wayne This Weekend

The sidewalk sale will benefit the American Red Cross.

 

A sidewalk sale by merchants in Wayne on Saturday will benefit the American Red Cross.

"There isn't one of us that has not been touched by this disaster," said Stephanie Buthusiem-Horoski, owner of Fiore. Buthusiem-Horoski is organizing the event.

A number of retailers have expressed interest in participating. Currently everyone on the 100 East Lancaster Avenue block is participating in one way or another except for GAP and Blue Mercury, she said.

To get involved, call Buthusiem-Horoski at 610-688-1010.

Wayne will also be hosting a First Friday event on Nov. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. In addition to stores staying open late and offering specials, there will be a live band playing on the street in the block of 100 East Lancaster Avenue near the Velvet Shoestring.

WHY would this individual feel the need to mention the two retailers who aren't participating? A jab at her competition? These stores may have already donated...or their corporate offices may have given an even larger amount...or they're giving money in another way. Who knows? This was a mean-spirited crack that makes her attempt to appear philanthropic sound like blackmail.

So Catherine, what have you done to help the storm victims? It's because of busy bodies like you that more people don't step up and try to do some good.

I see your (mostly negative) comments on Patch often. Maybe you need to get a life and not try to show us all how smart you are. It's not working.

I believe Sam Strike was just stating facts that I had supplied to her for the article. All of our retail neighbors are a valued part of the community. Its just a matter of a corporation verses a small business. Meaning decisions can be made quickly. This idea was just presented to the township on Thursday and we all jumped through hoops to make it happen. It's unfortuate that you have leaped to such a negative conclusion.
