Two days after – and 12 years before – my March birth date, a really excellent automobile rolled off Henry Ford’s renowned assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan. Eighty-two years later, with a refurbished L-head four-cylinder engine which burbles like no other, Kevin Perrot’s 1930 Model A is a joy to behold.
I had seen pictures of the affectionately-named Bessie, but those were nothing like watching the old gal chugging down Radnor-Chester Road toward my driveway this past Sunday. With Kevin kitted out in era-appropriate knickers and matching argyle v-neck sweater and socks, we motored over to Valley Forge Park for the carillon concert. He and Bessie were a big hit, as admirers of all ages peppered him with questions. The smiles were everywhere.
I captured a few scenes from the afternoon with my little point-and-shoot and posted a two-minute video on YouTube. Click here to step back in time, being sure to watch on a full-size monitor, audio up.

John, you don't look that old either. Nice vid. Thanks for the heads-up.
