With the ten year anniversary of 9/11 yesterday, people are finding different ways to reflect and remember. This year professional photographer Stacey P. Morgan of Wayne, and her dog Delta, are remembering by putting a face to the feeling. This year, on the anniversary of September 11, Morgan released the Pawtriotic series: a series of majestic photographs of her dog taken in various historic locations associated with American patriotism in Pennsylvania and neighboring states. These images are printed on cards and a 12-month calendar that are available for purchase on her website. An avid dog…

Radnor Patch asks people to reflect on 9/11, where they were and how it affected them.
I was picking up several staff members at Gwynedd-Mercy College’s library because a group of us were attending a funeral. When I came in, the TV in the staff room was on because someone had heard about an accident in New York involving a plane and a building. We all watched while the second plane hit but had to leave immediately because of the funeral. When we arrived at the church, everyone was sitting in their cars, listening to the radio as reporters tried to describe what was happening. At one point, jets flew overhead, scrambling from nearby Willow Grove Naval Air Station to protect …
Wow, you ask that question and I immediately remember how I felt and vividly remember what I was doing. My husband, Mark, and I were living in Springfield, DelCo and my boys were 4 and 2 years old. Of course, I was up early with the boys and that day Mark was leaving on a trip for business. Ironically, he was taking a quick flight up to be at meetings on Long Island or somewhere like that close to NYC. I remember I was standing in the kitchen where my two-year old was eating when Mark called from the road to the airport to say turn on the TV, he heard on the radio that a plane had crashed in …

On the morning of September 11, 2001, I was teaching Global Issues with my colleague Ken Sklar at Radnor High School. I arrived at room 105 about an hour after I saw reports and video on CNN.com about the planes that had hit the World Trade Towers. The news had already filtered through the high school, but disbelief kept it from latching on as strongly as it soon would. Global Issues is an interdisciplinary Social Studies plus English course that attracts many of the school's most aggressive learners, covering international studies with a focus on the non-Western world. We were studying …
On September 11, 2011, we remember the 10th anniversary of the day when nearly 3,000 victims were killed after two airliners were crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City, another plane hit the Pentagon and a final plane crashed into a field in rural Pennsylvania. This devastating number of causalities included fire fighters, police officers from NYC, the Port Authority, private emergency medical technicians and many paramedics who came to help.According to the New York Times of August 9, 2011, "At least 10,000 firefighters, police officers and civilians exposed to the terrorist attack …
How Did 9/11 Change Radnor Schools' Operations? Leo Bernabei, director of operations for the Radnor Township School District, said: "Since 9/11, we have become part of a much larger context of preparedness, working closely with many levels of government in providing for a means by which to help our communities in times of need. We have been very engaged through Delaware County as a distribution site for emergency medical necessities or other emergency needs. An example of this planning took place when we opened our doors in 2009 for the distribution of medicine for H1N1. Much of this …

Airline industry specialist Kevin Mitchell estimates that one-third of today’s business travelers were not in the business before September 11, 2001 and only know what the experience of flying is in a post 9/11 world. But Mitchell, a Radnor resident, remembers well that business travel was like in the two decades that preceded the terrorist attacks that used commercial airplanes as weapons. That day, and some threats and incidents that followed it, changed the way we travel by air. Many people take planes only when they have to, as little as once a year or less. But, despite the communication…
Radnor Patch asks people to reflect on 9/11, where they were and how it affected them. Duncan McNabb, Sarah Lantz and Ed Luoma tell their stories.
I guess there's nothing wrong with asking this question, except I think it suggests an all-too-common American perspective of 9/11, as if the world began on that day, and the attack occurred out of the blue, for no conceivable reason. In the first few days after 9/11, pundits in every form of media were speculating as to possible motives, dumbfounded that anyone could be that angry at the US. "They're jealous of our freedoms", was the most common offering, or, "They're jealous of our success." Of course, Bin Laden gave his own explanation, which was immediately rejected. If you recall, he …
