The "knock-up" is an all-too-common way for local homes, including those in Radnor, to be burglarized. But part of actually may make it easy to help stop future crimes. Police know this: in many cases of burglary, the burglers knock on a victim's door to find out first if anyone is home. If someone does answer, the person (or people) at the door will give some reason, like asking for directions or trying to sell a service or product, explained Lt. Radnor Police have laid charges against people in 34 percent of burglaries that have taken place in Radnor this year, according to police. Some of the burglaries that you may have read about on Radnor Patch have been deemed "cleared," using police terminology, Lt. Andrew Block said. Some of those are: Jorge Cruz, 46, of N. Randolph Street in Philadelphia, was arrested on multiple burglary charges by Lower Merion Police, who say that Cruz burgled home there and one in the Bryn Mawr section of Radnor Township.   Radnor Police have taken 16 reports of thefts or attempted thefts from vehicles that took place overnight from Tuesday, May 14 into Wednesday, May 15. The incidents were reported in Rosemont, Villanova, and Bryn Mawr, according to Radnor Police. Surveillance video from the Radcliff Apartment complex in the 1000 block of Conestoga Road in Bryn Mawr captured two men walking through the parking lot getting into cars after 3 a.m. Any resident with information on these crimes is asked to call 610-688-0503 and make a police report. Radnor Police recommends that car doors always remain locked.
Radnor Township has on its books codes that prohibit dogs from being unaccompanied by an owner when off of its property and from injuring people. Two Radnor residents recently received citations for violating those codes. A resident of North Wayne was cited after a child reported being bitten by a dog walking without a leash with its owner on May 3 near North Wayne Park. Two small superficial puncture marks were seen on the child's back. In the past few weeks, there have been six residential daytime burglaries reported within Radnor Township. As of Thursday, not one lead from a neighbor or witness had come into the Radnor Police Department. "Maybe we need more people like Mrs. Kravitz," said Lt. The sale of acid and marijuana may be taking place on the campus of Valley Forge Military Academy, according to recent police reports. On May 2, school officials found 20 tabs of acid and $365 hidden in the room of a cadet after another cadet became ill after taking a hit of acid the prior evening, according to a police report.  A shampoo bottle containing 50 tabs of the hallucinogenic were listed as evidence on the police report. On April 28, a cadet was found with a small amount of marijuana, according to the police report, and the cadet told officials that he got the drug on campus. The …

A home in the 300 block of Eagle Road in Wayne was broken into on Monday, May 6 between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The 300 block runs from Strafford Avenue to the bridge over the Paoli-Thorndale line. Like numerous other incidents that have taken place in Radnor over the past week, a back door was broken into. Several items of jewelry were taken from the home's master bedroom, according to police. A home in the 400 block of Upper Gulph Road in Radnor was burgled on Friday, May 3, according to Radnor Police. The back door of the house had been forced open, police discovered, and an unspecified amount of jewelry was taken from the master bedroom. Chamounix Road Theft Nearly $20,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a home on Chamounix Road in St. Davids within a two-hour time frame on April 23. It is one of three recent break-ins that Radnor Police are investigating. According to a police report, the homeowner left her house at 9:15 a.m. and returned two hours later to find her jewelry box emptied. An unlocked door was found at the back of the home, an apparent oversight by someone who provided services to the homeowner. A Villanova University-issued laptop computer valued at $1,500 disappeared from the Cor Hall lounge sometime between 3:30 and 7 p.m. on April 26, reported a student. A 22-year-old Villanova man and 20-year-old Gladwyne man were arrested after police found them to be under the influence of narcotics and carrying bags of heroin and cocaine on April 22 in the area of Godfrey Road and Radnor Valley Road in Villanova. According to a report, police were called to the area around 1 p.m. for the report of a fight and an alleged stolen car. The men were found "visibly under the influence of a narcotic" walking in the Radnor Valley Golf Club. Both were placed under arrest for public intoxication and criminal tresspass. Four men turned themselves in to Radnor police Thursday on charges that they stole a car that one of them was responsible for after it was towed to an impound yard, reports Main Line Media News.
