Cub Scouts Donate To Outley House

This fall Cub Scout Pack 284 (which meets at Wayne Elementary School but is chartered at Wayne Presbyterian Church) held a collection of “Welcome Home kits” for the men at Outley House, one of our CityLights partners. More than 55 kits each containing shampoo, deoderant, lotion, soap & washcloth, toothpaste & toothbrush, foot powder and socks were donated by the Cub Scouts. Numerous blankets and towel sets were also donated. The Cub Scout “Welcome Home” kits will be given with plastic bins so the men at Outley House have somewhere to keep their personal items while they are at Outley and transition to independent living.
"As the boys were dropping off their collections, I realized that they truly understood the purpose of the service project and were proud to be helping their community” state Amy Leader, a parent of a Tiger Cub and coordinator of the Pack’s Community Outreach initiatives.
The kits were delivered in mid-December and the Scouts hope Larry Adams from Outley House will be able to join them at their spring 2014 Blue & Gold Dinner to recognize this special partnership of young men helping another generation and applying many of the core values they are learning as Scouts.
