Breakfast Aims to 'Undo' Racism

"The CommUNITY Breakfast" will be held on the campus of Villanova University to mark "Undoing Racism Day."

On Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 7:30 till 9:00 a.m.  "The CommUNITY Breakfast" will be held on the campus of to mark "Undoing Racism Day."

The CommUNITY Breakfast is a new community-led and volunteer-staffed effort organized by a steering committee comprised of religious, civic and educational organizations from the greater Main Line area.

Similar to the discontinued Radnor Township "Unity Breakfast" which was held each September from 2000 to 2008, The CommUNITY Breakfast retains the original goal of gathering interested people together in a place where we can encounter each other as stranger, share genuine hospitality, and grow in friendship and understanding.

The keynote address will be given by Rev. Mark Kelly Tyler, Ph.D., Pastor of Mother Bethel AME Church, Philadelphia.

Anne Minicozzi, event facilitator, says she hopes the event "provides a space where we, who are all so very different from one another, can each encounter each other as stranger and get to know each other. In that space it is hoped we all learn something new, either from the program participants or from the chance encounters with those with whom we share the meal."
