Darby-Paoli Road Closure Could Last Another Month

The partially collapsed stone culvert that caused the closure of Darby-Paoli Road at The Willows Park could take a month to fix under the best-case scenario.

Because the structure is located on a property listed on the National Register of Historic Places (The Willows estate) the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation needs to apply for permits from the Army Corps of Engineers and the Pa. Department of Environmental Protection, Charles Metzger of PennDOT told Radnor Patch Monday.

Metzger said PennDOT was prepared to send off its permit applications Monday. It will then have to wait for the agencies to review and approve the applications.

Once the permits are issued construction can begin, he said. Assuming every goes smoothly, Metzger said the culvert could be fixed in about one month.

The road was closed about one month ago.
