Local Kickstarter Campaign: Living with a Physical Disability

Eastern University alum Matthew Curcio is looking for backers to help make a feature length documentary about being a young adult with a physical disability and trying to discover independence.

Matthew Curcio, a recent graduate of Eastern University where he was the Student Government Association Executive President, is running a Kickstarter campaign to make a feature length documentary about being a young adult with a physical disability and trying to discover independence.

Kickstarter is the world's largest funding platform for creative projects.

"We have gotten tons of support and have discovered that this movie needs to be made," said Curcio, who has Muscular Dystrophy.

"Project Able" would "guide young people with physical disabilities... and show them a path to be independent," he says in his promo clip on Kickstarter. The documentary would interview people with disabilities who "have gone down that road."

Curcio is currently living in Elmer, NJ after being displaced by Hurricane Sandy.

"Nothing has really ever been done like this and it is a story that desperately needs to be told," he said.
