Retired Radnor Teachers Start Lecture Series

What do two former Radnor High School teachers do with themselves after retirement? 

Around here, they start a lecture series.

Susan Wolf and Lois Wysocki, who both retired last year, have created “HomeGrown: Lectures-Learning-Locally,” a five-part lecture series that is more local (and less expensive) than the Philadelphia Speaker Series.

The two “always felt fortunate to be immersed in an environment where people deeply appreciate the arts, education and a strong sense of community,” Wolf said. “For a number of years, we have been formulating a plan to tap into the expertise of our neighbors and have them share their stories, experiences, and opinions.”

The first lecture will be a discussion with Ted Peters, president of Bryn Mawr Trust Company and Jack Brennan, former CEO of Vanguard, at 7:30 p.m. on September 26. The duo will talk about the economy, local and global, and how it has affected the Route 30 corridor. The sessions will be informal and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers and to mingle with other people.

“It’s important to us that it has a community feel,” Wolf told Radnor Patch. The Wayne Art Center is hosting all five lectures.

A subscription to the series is $75 ($65 for current members of Wayne Art Center), and $20 for individual lectures. You can register on the Wayne Art Center website.
