Small Neighborhood, Big Concerns

Today's Snapshot is of Louella Court, where many residents are worried about a proposed redevelopment project.

Louella Court is one of Radnor Township's three local historic districts and is home to one of it's most notable buildings, the Louella Mansion.

The mansion currently houses apartments, but a local developer has plans to turn them into condominiums. What is most concerning to those who live there now appears to be a plan to construct a 24-car garage "underground" on the small site. Some residents say the garage would be under dirt but not under the ground as the grade now exists.

The plan still needs to go through the township's land development process and it may need to seek relief from the Zoning Hearing Board. So far the Historic and Architecture Review Board has okayed the project as presented; Shade Tree Commission has as well.
