A Bounty of Farms Exhibit Opens Saturday

The Wayne Art Center presents a body of paintings that showcase the beauty of rural Willistown.

and Willistown Conservation Trust presents A Bounty of Farms, Paintings Celebrating the Preservation of the Willistown Countryside. The project will bring to light the shared philosophy that keeping people connected to the land is crucially important and linked to the health of a community.

The exhibition will open in the Davenport Gallery with a Preview Party on November 5, and will feature food grown by Rushton Farm and other local producers. Paintings will be for sale by silent auction at the Preview Party that evening. Each piece will start with an opening bid at its market value. The artist will receive 60 percent of that sum and the remaining proceeds will be split evenly by WAC and WCT.

Following the Preview Party, the show will remain on display free and open to the public. The work will continue to be for sale at market value.

Students and instructors often go out to the Willistown area to paint pastoral scenes. Without careful stewardship of those lands artists would need to travel far afield to find the peace that exists just minutes down the road.

Approximately 25 carefully chosen artists were invited to paint scenes on specified properties in the Willistown countryside in the unfolding spring, summer and fall seasons. Each artist is asked to paint at least three paintings that will go on display at the Wayne Art Center.
