Bach Choral, Organ and Instrumental Program on Sunday

The St. David's Choir and Fairmount Chamber Ensemble will perform a program for the public.

 

An all Bach Choral, Organ and Instrumental program is the next offering in St. David’s Church’s Art of Faith music and arts program on Sunday, March 24 at 3 p.m.

The St. David's Choir and Fairmount Chamber Ensemble will perform a program including the B Minor Prelude and Fugue for organ, Concerto in F Minor for keyboard and orchestra, and culminating in Bach's magnificent motet, "Jesu, Meine Freude."

Renovated in 2006, St. David’s Episcopal Church Chapel is home to a Dobson organ, opus 84. The Dobson Pipe Organ Company has completed installations in the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Washington National Cathedral, Washington, D.C. and is currently installing an instrument at Merton College, Oxford University, England.

The Art of Faith is a series of parish and community events developed to bring together music art and literature enthusiasts from the local vicinity to the St. David’s campus where all may share their talent as they hear and view God through the arts.

Forthcoming events in the series include an organ concert by Michel Bouvard on Sunday, April 7, when the American Guild of Organists meets at St. David’s, and a children’s musical performance of  “Joseph and the Amazing Technical Colored Dreamcoat” on April 19 to 21.

The Arts Festival Weekend, beginning on Friday, April 26, will include a juried Art Show and Sale presented by the Delaware Valley Art League; a Photography Show and Sale, and an Organ Program, Saturday April 27 at 3:00, presented by St.David’s Organist/ Choir Director Dr. Clair Rozier, and Assistant, Elaine Sonnenberg.
