Laura Pritchard Art Exhibition Opening Reception

Laura Pritchard is the Artist of the Month at Main Line Unitarian Church. There will be an opening reception for her exhibition "Entrance" on Sunday, October 23, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Laura Pritchard is known for her mastery of the ancient Indonesian process of batik. "Entrance," her solo exhibition of batik on silk and wool, will be shown in the Fireside Room at MLUC until November 27.

Her pieces do not resemble traditional batik. The artist describes her art as "works about constructing enigmatic, fantastic faces and figures which invite the viewer into a world rich with color and detail."

Ms. Pritchard paints with molten wax and French dyes in alternating applications on stretched silk or wool. The wax is then removed at the end of the process.

Ms. Pritchard has received awards for graphic design and illustration from The Illustrators Club, NYC, Print Magazine, and the National Geographic Society, among others.
