Why Go: See live animals at the library in this entertaining, fun and educational program hosted by Wallaby Tales Traveling Zoo. The presentation is geared toward preschool through elementary ages.

MAD HATTERS HAT CONTEST AND PARADE
Where/When: Ardmore Initiative at 6:15 p.m. Friday.
Why Go: Bring your Mad Hat made from recycled materials, enter it to win great prizes and then join the Mad Hatters parade. Part of First Friday Main Line, this event is open to individual artists of any age, with children's, family and adult categories and prizes for maddest, most creative and more. All hats have to be wearable and can be interpreted in any way you wish.

Where/When: Home Depot from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Why Go: Help your child assemble a wooden planter or basket for spring in this "how-to workshop" designed for children ages 5 to 12. The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children. Plus, each child goes home with a kid-sized orange apron and an achievement pin.

Where/When: from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go: There's big trout, big prizes and big fun to be had for the whole family, no fishing license required. Bring your own rod or rent one at Linvilla, where they'll also have plenty of bait, breakfast, lunch and drinks for sale. Meet at the farm market for transportation to the pond.

FIRST FRIDAY APRIL FOOLS JAZZ CONCERT
Where/When: Creative Living Room at 6 p.m. Friday.
Why Go: Join Hot House Jazz Band for an April Fools jazz concert for kids. These three fantastic veteran local musicians, Eric Henry on tuba, Paul Butler on clarinet and Jim Smith on guitar, will have kids hopping and improvising with instruments and sounds in this fun-filled family music time celebrating jazz. An April Fools' Open Mic for all will follow the program.

Where/When: Brandywine Youth Club in Glen Mills from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday.
