Thursday's Fire Started in White Dog Kitchen
The building that houses White Dog Cafe and other businesses suffered a fire Thursday.
Fire burned the building that houses White Dog Cafe and other businesses Thursday.
Radnor firefighters were dispatched at about 11:15 a.m. for a fire call in the building only about a block away from the fire house. Wayne Town Center, at 200 West Lancaster Ave., also houses Peanut Butter and Jane, Amirian Jewelers and Charles Schwab.
The two-alarm fire began in the kitchen of the White Dog Cafe and spread through a vent to the roof the building, according to Radnor Fire Co. Deputy Chief Joseph Maguire.
"Extensive" damage was done to the building by the fire, but also by the firefighters having to cut open walls and part of the building's roof to fight the fire, Maguire said. Other businesses within the building suffered smoke and water damage from sprinkler systems.
Lancaster Avenue was closed in the area. Traffic on surrounding roads was heavy.
