Cronuts Come to Wayne

The tasty treats cost $10 a pop, but apparently they're delicious.

In case you haven't heard of it, the cronut is a half-croissant, half-doughnut that has become a baking boom in Philadelphia and New York City. And now you can find the delights in Wayne.

Royal Cafe of Wayne at the corner of North Wayne and West avenues started selling the cronuts, made by Swiss Haus Bakery in Philadelphia, this week. They are flying off the shelves, according to owner Torpekay Habashzada.

Habashzada told Radnor Patch that she plans on getting the treats once a week. She said she will order about four dozen. Already on Wednesday afternoon a dozen have been sold to eager customers. They cost $9.43 each.

She said they are the only sellers of the items in the area. "It's not like any other pastry," she said. "I'm happy and proud to serve it."

As for the taste, Habashzada said she tried one so she would understand the product she is selling. "It's absolutely delicious."
