Dunkin Donuts Opening in Wayne

Will you be a customer of the new business?

Dunkin Donuts at 110 East Lancaster Avenue in Wayne is scheduled to open Thursday.

Owner Mayur Patel said he and partners Sunny Patel and Akshay Amin looked for a location on the Main Line for three years before finding the small sliver of a space that Saxby's used to occupy.

He said they gutted and renovated the space, which only has two tables. But, Patel said, most of the clientel will likely be taking their food and drinks to go.

Radnor Township "was pretty open" to the business, he said. It only took time to go through the township's process.

Dunkin Donuts will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Patel said he expects the store's rush hours to be from 7 to 10 a.m.

The three own a Dunkin Donuts in Willow Grove, where Amin lives. Mayur Patel lives in Philadelphia and Sunny Patel lives in Alabama.

Commenters had a lot to say for and against the new businesses in another Radnor Patch article.

No parking, WAWA & Gryphon Cafe to the left, Cream and Sugar & Starbucks to the right, and very difficult parking when trying to pull out (particularly in the morning traffic). I wish them the best in a very difficult environment. Maybe they can survive on Middle Schoolers walking by in the AM. I wouldn't have put $1 of my own money into a coffee store at that location.

I think it's great! DD has great coffee, and they'll sell a ton of donuts to middle schoolers, especially during party weeks. Welcome to Wayne!

Plenty of parking when they do the bulk of their business in the earlier morning hours. With the exception of WaWa, only place in town with reasonably priced, good quality coffee. Other places are overpriced and only so-so quality-wise I imagine they'll see lots of middle schoolers in the afternoon hours after school not so much in the AM. Parking is only difficult is you don't know how to drive and can't pull out into traffic! Good luck Dunkin. I'll be a regular customer!

Why did the previous DD down the road close years ago?

How will quality of products and service be controlled with three absentee owners? Re: i grew here's comment, are you referring to the full-service DD in Bryn Mawr, with tables and parking, that closed a bunch of years ago? That site is now (yet another) bank.

Absentee owners? Unless I missed something, only one of the partners does not live in the area. If you mean they don't live in Wayne, neither do most of folks who have shops here. Many/most employ managers who are responsible for quality control and service issues as I am sure Dunkin will do here. If memory serves, the Dunkin Donuts in Bryn Mawr closed because they lost their lease there. I have heard there was another in Wayne many years ago (before my time here) which may be what I Grew Up Here is referring to.

I thought that I remembered a DD there years ago. Was it where Melt Down is now? Anyone remember what year that one closed?
