Media Starts First Restaurant Week

Media Restaurant Week will take place at the end of February.

Media Borough will now host its own Restaurant Week twice a year, the Media Business Authority and Media Mayor Bob McMahon announced Thursday.

Media Restaurant Week will run from Sunday, Feb. 23 through Friday, Feb. 28.

Media Business Authority Executive Director Zubair Khan said the idea behind the experiment is to bring more visitors to town and they hope to involve the retailers as well.

"A lot of restaurants are in favor of it and we’re hoping for good results," Khan said at Thursday's Media Borough Council meeting.

McMahon reminded folks to be patient with the new initiative as it may take some time to show success.

"It was a failure in Philadelphia the first couple of years," McMahon said. "So don’t expect immediate success, be patient. Even Dining Under the Stars wasn’t what it is now, when it first started."

It was unclear what specials or fixed menu prices would be provided by each restaurant. But reservations at restaurants are recommended.

The second Media Restaurant Week will take place in October.

There will be no street closures during restaurant week.
