Moms Eat Local: Aux Petits Delices

Find out how kid-friendly Aux Petits Delices in Wayne is.

Moms know how tough it can be to eat out with little ones. Patch wants to help you know before you walk in the door if Aux Petits Delices is a good place to eat with your children.

Restaurant:

Is there a kids’ menu? Not officially but most things in there are kid friendly, from the chocolates to the pastries and everything in between. Kids will especially love the myriad of handmade chocolate bunnies and animals they have in the store for Easter.

Are there healthy options on the kids’ meal? Most items are gloriously rich in butter and sugar as it is a French pastry shop, but they do also have sugar free chocolates available which are a healthy alternative. In addition, the filled croissants are not enormous so it allows for portion control. The ham and cheese croissant I had there was the perfect size (if you're used to the gigantic ones that have surfaced, you will find it too small). Meringues are a low calorie, nonfat option as well.

How does the restaurant deal with food allergies? Aux Petits Delices has a wide array of gluten-free items which is impressive. However, they use almond flour so those with nut allergies should beware. Nut allergies are more difficult to accommodate here because there are nuts in many items. As for other allergies, alert the staff and they will steer you towards items you may order.

Is the restaurant so quiet that any childish outburst will draw attention or is there enough noise that a small cry is likely to go unnoticed? Kids and babies are more than welcome here. They will enjoy seeing the filled bakery cases.
