New Wine-Sushi-Tapas Bar Opens

It's got cuisine no other restaurant features-and a really cool machine for pouring wine.

It's a restaurant within a restaurant and it's now officially open. O-toro officially opened to the public on Friday, inside the recently opened Landmark Americana restaurant on Lancaster Avenue and Old Eagle School Road in Strafford.

The wine-sushi-tapas bar and restaurant bar features a full sushi menu, dozens and dozens of wine options and a tapas menu for those who like to share as they nosh.

O-Toro does have its own entrance, which will open in the coming days (the concrete on the ramp to the front door is still curing). It is also accessible through the main entrance to Landmark, which opened at the beginning of the summer.

Seating for about 60 includes a dining room, sushi bar and full wet bar.

Behind the bar is a high tech wine dispensing machine that keeps 24 bottles perfectly chilled and oxygen free.  O Toro Manager Rob Kowalchik says the Enomatic wine dispenser seals open bottles with argon gas that forces air out of the bottles and pressurizes the wine contents to keep each bottle fresh. The machine puts a tube/straw inside each bottle. Bar tenders can dispense a perfect size drink (1 ounce, 2.5 ounces, 5 ounces)with the touch of a button.

The machine holds 24 bottles which will include a rotating selection (incluuding 2 sakis). Dozens of other wine options are also avaialble from red and white favorites to one-of-a-kind bottles Kowalchik says you can't find anywhere else.

In addition to dine-in options O Toro also offers take-out. Leslie Morgan of Wayne couldn't wait to try the cuisine from sushi chef Jesse Zhong on her first take-out visit Tuesday night. "It's a great concept. Small and tidy," Morgan told TE Patch while waiting to pick up her first-ever order from O Toro." It's got a beautifully staffed bar. We hope they deliver on quality."
