Out There Outfitters Expanding

This is not typical expansion. An interesting deal was made with a major clothing manufacturer.

Out There Outfitters, the Wayne store that sells outdoor clothing, gear and accessories, will be almost doubling the size of its current space when it expands into the building next to it.

They will be taking over the space that for years housed Troubadour music store, but what's interesting is that the clothing and gear company Patagonia will be designing and merchandising the entire space. It will pay for building out the new space, and will contain only goods from Patagonia, which is Out There Outfitter's cornerstone brand.

The two spaces will be connected once part of the wall is knocked down, said Beau Moffitt, manager. They are hoping to open the new space in November. And it's just in time because the store gets cramped in winter when the jackets get "puffy," he said.

"People continue to look to us for expanded offerings," Moffitt said. Out There Outfitters is starting its fourth year in business on North Wayne Avenue.
