Sophie's Cafe is scheduled to open on Thursday at 165 East Lancaster Avenue in downtown Wayne in the former Cream and Sugar location.

Wife and husband Sarah and Matt Shore are hoping to create a "neighborhood cafe" where they will serve breakfast and lunch, and in the afternoons creative desserts and ice cream that their former Center City business Scoop DeVille is known for.

Named for their two-year-old daughter, Sophie's has 44 seats, and will have table service and a banquette you can sit on to eat ice cream. There will also be a bench outside for ice cream eating.

The café will serve breakfast and lunch daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will serve La Colombe coffee. Some of the items on the menu include pancakes, waffles and breakfast sandwiches for breakfast and salads, burgers and sandwiches for lunch.

Desserts will be served daily from 3 to 9 p.m. They have base ice cream flavors (they use a lower butter fat Bassetts ice cream) from which you can create dozens of flavors, like Pie A La Mode (vanilla ice cream with apples, cinnamon, caramel and graham crackers) or chocolate ice cream with pretzels and peanut butter or vanilla ice cream with sugar cookie dough, Snickers and caramel. All ingredients are mixed together to make a soft serve dish.

The couple, who live in Broomall, also have successful other businesses as well. Sarah is a life coach and Matt is a graphic designer. "We're serial entrepreneurs," Sarah said.

“We’re excited about it,” Matt said on Tuesday as he made preparations to open. “It’s a new adventure for us.”
