The Wayne Donuts and Ice Cream Bar Opens in The Suburban Building

Donut and coffee shop by day, ice cream parlor by night, The Wayne Bar offers items from a variety of producers in the region.

The Wayne Donuts and Ice Cream Bar, affectionally called The Wayne Bar, opened in November in the basement of The Suburban Building at 134 North Wayne Avenue in downtown Wayne.

Donut and coffee shop by day, ice cream parlor by night, The Wayne Bar offers items from a variety of producers in the region.

They carry coffee by GreenStreet in South Philadelphia and ReAnimator in Fishtown.

Donuts come from Phatso's Bakery in Chester, Suzy Jo Donuts in Bridgeport and Lydia Mae's in Lancaster.

The ice cream is made by Little Baby's in Philadelphia and Graeter's of Cincinnati, Ohio. In fact, The Wayne Bar is the only independent business that sells Graeter's, which is made through an age-old French Pot process.

"We want to bring in the best of the region," said co-owner Brad Liermann.

The Wayne Bar's winter hours are 7 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
