Williamsons of Wayne Opens

Williamsons of Wayne and The Tailor Shop provide decorating services and fabric options in one retail location.

For many years, the name Williamson has been synonymous with fabrics in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, where they the store the Copper Lantern flourished.

Now, the Williamsons have moved to Wayne, where they offer fabrics, ready-made products and services at 111 South Wayne Avenue in downtown Wayne.

Owner Sue Valeri said her father Fred Williamson created and copyrighted many fabrics, which they sell at the shop. But they also work with fabrics from other companies, she said.

You can buy fabrics by the yard or in products like curtains, sheet sets and pillows. They also make their own dish sets using Williamson’s patterns.

Giang Pham, who owned The Tailor Shop on North Aberdeen Avenue, now works in the Williamsons of Wayne retail space and workroom. She does clothing alterations as well as custom home upholstery, window treatments and other décor.

“We’ve had a very good response from people walking in,” Valeri said. “It’s been an easy transition.”
