Wine Deals Just For Today

Cyber Monday deals apply to wine, too.

It's CyberMonday and there are some incredible wine deals out there. TODAY ONLY, 11//28, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is offering FREE SHIPPING on any wines or spirits right to your door! Normally the State charges $23 per case for home delivery so this is a mega-bargain. And of course, it's the perfect time to stock up on holiday cheer for all your parties, dinners and gifts. In fact, you could put a huge dent in your Christmas shopping by ordering online and having it delivered...for free!

Wineexpress.com also has a "Three Ship Free' deal.

There are thousands online but here are a few recommendations for different types of wine:

Red:

If you like a full bodied red, my pick is the 2005 Dinastia Vivanco Reserva Rioja. It's rich enough for those who like a full-bodied flare with a kick of spice yet round and soft enough to savor by the fire. A steal at $17.99.

White:

If you're sick of over-oaked Chardonnays and want to splurge a little, try this Kiwi gem, the 2006 Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay. If you like the creamy and more mineral tones of a Chard, this one is for you. It might even lead you to try some White Burgundies down the road. Very good value at $19.99

Sparkling:

Want to try something different? Try the Aussie tradition of having "red" sparking Shiraz on Christmas. It is beautiful in the glass for that holiday toast and has a rich, delicious mouthfeel that also complements the holiday bird. Look for "The Chook" Sparkling Shiraz, Australia at $19.99. Good on ya, mate!

Need a more traditional sparkling? The St. Hilaire Brut Sparkling is a no-brainer at $11.99.  Dry but well-balanced, this dependable bubbly is good to keep on hand for that unexpected guest who "pops" by for the holidays. Btw, this wine can only be purchased at stores but it's usually at Wayne, Bryn Mawr and Ardmore.

Dessert:

When it comes to holiday desserts, I prefer mine to be of the liquid variety and this is a wine I always have in  my cellar, the De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Semillon 2005. I call it the poor man's Chateau D'Yquem because it is so luscious with honey and apricots that I find the $29.99 price a bargain compared to CdY which is more than $300 for the same half bottle. This wine is so consistent from year to year that it is one of the few wines where I feel comfortable substituting vintage years. If you have friends who love dessert wine, this is a fabulous gift.

To order online, go to www.finewineandgoodspirits.com and as always, don't forget to celebrate. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Cheers!
