Erben's House

Also, we give you the answer to Friday's From the Archives question.

Today we continue our series of highlights from the George W. Schultz photo album. Schultz documented many scenes of early Wayne and St. Davids.

On the southwest corner of East Lancaster Avenue and St. Davids Road stood this house, which was identical in design to several other homes in South Wayne. Originally many of the residential streets in town were lined with rustic fences like the one seen here. This house met an unfortunate early fate; the next installment of 'From the Archives' will show what happened to it.

The answer to : Believe it or not, this block isn't on Midland or Windermere. This is the south side of East Lancaster Avenue's 400 block. Only one of these houses remains today; the second one in is now the Children's Garden pre-school, though it has been heavily modified. The heavy development along Lancaster Avenue has turned this block of houses with wide lawns into a zone of mostly large commercial and apartment buildings.
