Help DelCo Girl Get Life-Saving Lung Transplant

Sarah Murnaghan, 10, has end-stage Cystic Fibrosis and has been on the lung transplant list for 18 months because of an organ transplant policy. An online petition aims to change the policy.

A Delaware County family is asking for the public's help in getting their 10-year-old daughter the double lung transplant that she desperately needs.

Sarah Murnaghan, 10, of Newtown Square, has end-stage Cystic Fibrosis and has been on the lung transplant list for 18 months.

Murnaghan has been at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for three months but may only have a week or two before she will lose her battle, according to Doug Kahn, a cousin of Janet Murnaghan, Sarah's mother.

Murnaghan is eligible for adult donor lungs, but because of her age, she will only receive them after all adult candidates, regardless of how sick they are, have the opportunity to accept them, according to Kahn.
