Homes on the east end of Walnut Avenue

The group of Wendell & Smith-built homes shown here is on the east end of Walnut Avenue.

Today we continue our series of highlights from the George W. Schultz photo album, which documents many scenes of early Wayne and St. Davids.

The group of Wendell & Smith-built homes shown here is on the east end of Walnut Avenue, north side. By the time this photo was taken, probably a couple of years after the homes were built, the neighborhood was starting to look more wild: the metal wire fence in front of the homes was by this time taken over by vines, and ivy had also begun to infiltrate the porch of the house at right. The houses shown are 221, 223 and 227 Walnut Avenue.
