How to Prevent Sexual Assault

Hear what three women, two of whom are sexual assault survivors, have to say about the topic.

The month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The goal is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate people on how to prevent sexual violence, according to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.

Three video in this article address sexual assault.

  • Radnor resident Katie Koestner, who changed the national conversation on date rape in 1991 when she appeared on the cover of TIME magazine and told her story, was interviewed by Radnor Patch editor Sam Strike about her life and mission.
  • Katlyn Lewicke is a Pennsylvania native and a survivor of childhood sexual abuse who recorded an open message to former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, who was convicted on 45 counts against him last year.
  • Brooke DeSipio, assistance director for The Women's Center at Lehigh University, talks about how to prevent sexual violence on college campuses.
