Police Blotter: Stolen Wheels and Burning Mail

Home Improvement Fraud

Jonathan Black, 42, of Collegeville, has been charged with home improvement fraud and theft by deception after allegedly contracting to renovate a home on Brook Street in Bryn Mawr, but not doing the work. According to the incident report, Black demolished the kitchen in November but has not done any other work since. He cashed a check from the owner.

Downspouts Stolen

Nine copper downspouts were stolen from a home under construction on Parkes Run Lane in Villanova it was reported on May 23. The downspouts taken were from the rear and sides of the home; those in front were left intact.

For Sale, Not For Keeps

A resident of Donna Lane in Wayne reported May 30 that he left an electric scooter along the sidewalk next to his property with a “for sale” sign affixed. According to the owner, about 30 later it was taken. Stolen was a gray-colored TRX personal transporter with three wheels and a hand operated throttle.

Gone in 30 Minutes

A resident of the cul-de-sac Wyndom Lane in Radnor reported May 22 that he left his $7,000 bicycle in his driveway between 10:50 and 11:20 p.m. only to return home to find it gone.

Talk About Biting the Hand…

An employee of McDonalds in Wayne was charged with various theft-related charges after using two fraudulent twenty dollar at the restaurant. According to the incident report, on May 25 Darius O. Callicut, 28, of Philadelphia, presented one of the fake bills to a cashier requesting change. He then purchased $6.34 worth of food and paid for it with another fake bill, according to the store manager.

You’ve Got Hot Mail

A small residential fire started at the Radwyn apartment complex in Bryn Mawr on May 27. According to the incident report, heavy smoke in an apartment was coming from its oven. After the apartment was cleared it was discovered that a tray of old mail was accidentally left in the broiler of the oven.
