Remembering Sunil

'This last month has changed our lives forever, and we hope it will change yours, too,' Sunil Tripathi's family has written.

A private memorial service was held at Brown University during the weekend for Sunil Tripathi, the Radnor High School alum whose body was found in the Providence River in Rhode Island last Tuesday. The high school held a moment of silence for him.

"What draws me to Sunil as a friend is his thoughtfulness, and the care with which he considers his thoughts before he puts words to them. There is also an unspoken kindness about him; he really believes in doing things rather than just saying them when it comes to kindness, making him all the more sincere." -Fatima Aqeel

"Having known Sunil for years as a classmate, roommate, and friend, I can honestly say that he was one of the nicest individuals I've met at Brown. He has a great sense of humor and got along well with everyone. He loves to bike, play the sax, and talk about philosophy." -Vincent Pham

"Sunil is always passive- but passive in a way that was very likeable. His quirks and personality came out in a non-overt way so characteristic of Sunil. At the same time, he is also always a positive presence. There was rarely a situation in which I didn't enjoy having Sunil around. I can't imagine anyone not liking him." -Andrew Lee

Sunil's family released a statement after his body was found:

As we carry indescribable grief, we also feel incredible gratitude. To each one of you–from our hometown to many distant lands–we extend our thanks for the words of encouragement, for your thoughts, for your hands, for your prayers, and for the love you have so generously shared.

Your compassionate spirit is felt by Sunil and by all of us.

This last month has changed our lives forever, and we hope it will change yours too. Take care of one another. Be gentle, be compassionate. Be open to letting someone in when it is you who is faltering. Lend your hand. We need it. The world needs it.
