Tree Limb Kills Man on Radnor Trail

Donald Vigliotti, of Devon, had been sitting on a bench when he was struck.

A falling tree limb killed a 65-year-old man from Devon on the Radnor Trail Thursday near Radnor-Chester Road, Radnor police say.

According to police chief William Colarulo, at about 3 p.m. Donald Vigliotti was sitting on a bench when apparently a large tree branch fell on top of him.

A 17-year-old heard the noise and found him, he said.

Rescue responded and began administering CPR. Vigliotti was transported to Bryn Mawr Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:31 p.m., Colarulo said.

"There is a lack of info at this point but we will review the incident to determine if there is anything that should be done differently in the future," said John Nagle, a Radnor commisioner and chair of its Parks and Recreation Committee, about tree care on the trail.
