What the Radnor Fire Co. Will and Won't Do for You During the Storm

Radnor Fire Company will have around-the-clock crews stationed at the firehouse starting at noon Monday and going through dinnertime on Tuesday, Mike Maguire, Radnor Fire Company chief, told Radnor Patch.

Maguire said the fire company ran about 60 calls during Hurricane Irene in August, 2011. “It might take a little while to get any kind of emergency services,” he said. Calls with the highest priority, like people trapped in a car in rising water or house fires, for example, will take priority over other calls.

• The fire company comes out in the case of downed wires. They treat each one as if it is live until it is determined otherwise.

• The fire company will not be doing pump outs of residential basements. People will have to contact a plumber.

• The fire trucks will not drive through moving water.

 In short, Maguire said the public can help by staying home.

“If you have no purpose on the road you shouldn’t be on it,” he said.
