No Voter ID Card? No Problem.

If you cannot find your voter registration card you can still vote. I long ago lost mine.

The staff inside the polling place are you neighbors, we likely know you,
and your spouse, Mom, Dad, sister, brother, or kids, and if you are on the
list of registered voters you can vote. Politicians passed a law that we have
to ask you for a photo ID, but you are not required to show it to vote.
( I know, its nuts.)

If you are a first time or infrequent voter or have recently moved bring
some ID with your home address on it. If we do not have you on our voter
list we can call the Election Bureau, as your information, may, through a
clerical error, not be on the paper lists sent to the polling place, you may
not be on our list if you moved, you might still be registered at your old
polling place and can go back and vote there, and be sure to ask us to
check all possible spellings of your name, and your middle name if it could
be a last name, they may have been flipped. Then too you could be in the
wrong polling place and we can send you to where you are registered, by
seeing your address. Unfortunately, we may not have you because you
may not have registered in time, (if you missed the deadline you cannot
vote in this election).

If you are sure you registered, but are not on your polling place’s list of
registered voters, and were not found anywhere else, you can ask to vote
provisionally on a Provisional Ballot. Provisional Ballots are opened if the
voter is found, for the official count on Friday. Remember Election Day is a
busy time for the staff at the Election Bureau, the person checking the
screen may have missed you, so voting provisionally though it takes time,
is a good idea, if you are reasonably certain the Bureau should have you
on the rolls.

Your neighbors get out of bed early to open the polls, so that you can vote
for the candidates of your choice.

Don’t disappoint us. VOTE.
