Bizzy Concierge, Image Consultant/Life Coach Mother of Three Living One Day at a Time!

The storm of the century, it is of EPIC proportion!!! Mother Nature needs to remind us from time to time just who is really in control!!! Growing up in the Midwest I am well aware of the fact that you cannot mess with her!!!! Mother Nature can keep us indoors for days and really make life inconvenient if you let her or you can turn this major weather event into something positive!

Yesterday I had a friend predict that there will be a bunch of new babies born nine months from now!!! Statisticians have been able to trace slight anomalies and bumps in the population to major weather events where people were forced inside together for prolonged periods!!! How much fun is that!!!! No explanations or excuses needed!! You are stuck inside and what else can you do without power but have an intense game of twister!!! That is FUN!!!

For us lucky Wayne residents that have children out of school for at least the next couple of days we have the opportunity to get to know our kids again without any distracting electronics. The Xbox has already left my house and yes the power is still on but it wasn’t bringing out the best. In fact some nasty words were coming out of my teenagers mouths. Our board game Olympics begins!!! Monopoly, chess, hearts and clue. We will see at the end of this who is still standing and has a smile on their face. Whoever hasn’t hurt too many feelings will be crowned the winner.

Lastly, I am so happy to have a respite from all of the electioneering that's been on for seemingly years now. Enough is enough. I don’t have to hear anything about Mitt or Obama for the next couple of days. Who would have ever predicted that a week out of Election Day when all of the political ads and pundits on their various soapboxes are silenced by Mother Nature! In fact when I have watched National News the last couple of days Hurricane Sandy has had the top half or more of the program. Could the parties have even thought “Frankenstorm” would upstage them???  I LOVE IT!!!!

Everyone that was calling or commenting on Facebook or other Social Media on politics for the last couple months are now reaching out to see that their neighbors are ok. Do you have enough food, water, batteries or candles? People care!!! It is so nice to see that when a disaster is looming in our near future it doesn’t matter whom you are voting for or who you support in the upcoming election. In America, at the end of the day people still want the best for society as a whole. My phone has been buzzing from friends all over the country just checking in to see that we are OK and to tell me that everyone in the Northeast is in their thoughts and prayers!

Sandy might be devastating and cost a lot of money (I hope no lives will be lost) but for my family, it is bringing us together. My daughter is making home-made, chocolate chip cookies, my boys are working to secure storm windows and making sure that everything in our basement is up and out of harms way. We have our games, flashlights, and candles all ready to go when our power goes out. Our plan is to hang and wait and if anyone needs us we can go help! I am so grateful to be living in one of the best places in this country. Sandy may be strong and carry a big punch but at the end of the week we will all be working to put everything back together. It takes a village and my hope is that nine months from now we have that "bump" in population with a bunch of new babies and whoever is supposed to win the White House does a great job!!! He will have the honor and privilege to lead the best place to live in the world: America!!!! Land of the FREE!!!!
