Taking a Leap of Faith

Wayne mother of three, Life Coach and image consultant

Life is full of leaps!!! How many times have you dived into something that is foreign to you, not knowing what is going to happen once you’re in the water? I have taken many leaps in my life, not knowing where I was going to land.

When dealing with children, sobriety and work I take leaps on a daily basis. Faith empowers me to take risks and trust in my higher power. If I do fall it won’t be the end of the world. Oftentimes I learn more from the defeat than I do from the win!

Parenting children today tests my sanity in a society where social media erodes our privacy and anonymity is a thing of the past. My children will never experience the joy of walking into their house to find the answering machine blinking red with a message from someone special. Or even to find a letter waiting for them hand written with smells that they long for. Today, life tests our children every second. I am constantly hoping that my children make the best decisions when logging onto Facebook and their profile page. I hope that I have taught them right from wrong and to be ethical.

For the last six years sobriety has been my easiest leap of faith. The choice of not picking up a drink one day at a time is such a blessing. I could never have imagined all of the rewards that I have received from not drinking. They outweigh even the thought of having one! Even in dark times, the faith of knowing that tomorrow offers the chance of a brighter day allows me to stay on the beam. Living one day at a time!

Work is a whole different story! I have taken so many leaps that my legs are really getting tired! I have tried many different endeavors with the support of the Main Line community and especially the people of Wayne! Here I go with yet a new idea that I am going to dive head first into.

Life coaching and image consulting bring so much joy to my life that I decided to pursue a career in the field. Two weeks ago Sam Strike wrote an insightful article about me to which I am so grateful. Elizabeth Chance, Life coach, image consultant is in business! In the state of Pennsylvania there is no certification for coaching that the State grants. However there are websites that you can pay hundreds of dollars for a piece of paper that affirms you have completed their online course. I am going to bypass the online questionnaires in lieu of sourcing my life lessons, experience, style and taste that I have learned on my journey through life to help people navigate through tough, challenging times.

James 2 said: “faith without works is dead”. Just as I have taken many chances before, now I have faith that I can help people when they are at a crossroad in their lives. I am inspired and honored when someone comes to me for advice, which happens often. Hence a new career and taking a leap of faith, I feel that this is what I am supposed to be doing. Coaching and consulting those whom need an experienced faith follower to help them along their voyage through life.
