RADNOR, Pa., April 11, 2014 – Area residents are invited to shake
off the long winter and celebrate spring with the 5th annual SMART
Run 5K and 1M Fun Run at Radnor Elementary School Sunday, April 27, 2014. The
annual event is held “to promote a SMART
lifestyle for RES families and raise funds to support SMART technology for our
school.

Race
day registration begins at 7 a.m. at Radnor Elementary School, 20 Matsonford
Road, Radnor. Participants are invited to a pre-race stretch at 8:15 a.m.



 



Online
registration is available through the SMART Run website, RES5K.com. The deadline for online
registration is Thursday, April 24th. For volunteer or sponsorship information,

The
race attracts hundreds of runners each year, with a scenic route through the
adjacent St. David’s neighborhood beginning and ending on the RES playground. Awards
will be given to the top male and female finishers and to top age-group
finishers in the 5K event. Race day events also will feature a DJ, Kids Fun
Zone and a post-race raffle basket of “All Things Sports and Fitness” featuring
gift cards to local businesses, gym passes, sportswear, equipment and more.



 



In
an effort to promote the enjoyment and benefits of running, the RES PTO sponsors
the after-school RES 5K Running Club. The non-competitive running program promotes
fitness among students and focuses on exercise, healthy nutrition and doing
good deeds at home and in the community. The club also offers a fun way for
students to train in preparation for the SMART Run 5K.



 



Registration
fees before April 24th are $75 per family,
or $15 for students under age 18, and $20 for adults. On race day, walk-in registration fees are $90 per
family, $20 for students under age 18, and $25 for adults. For more information
