Children's Fall 2013 Art Classes: September 30th to December 13th

Here at the Wayne Art Center we are already hard at work on presenting another exciting session of fall children’s classes!

For our youngest artists, we will be offering 2 For Art on both Wednesdays & Fridays, as well as single 2 For Art: TRY IT workshops on select Saturday mornings throughout the season.

For Pre-Schoolers & Kindergarteners, a few of the fun classes in store this year are:  After-School Art for Kindergarten on Mondays with Amy Grant, Art Around the World with Deena Ball on Thursdays, and Paint & Print Palooza with Abby Laible on Fridays.  For Early school age students, the Wayne Art Center will continue to offer a diverse range of after-school and Saturday options, including: Fantasy Drawing with Tony Squadroni on Monday evenings, Scene & Screen for Teens with Pat Jordan, and 3 sections of Wheel Throwing on Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays.  Saturday Play with Clay with Joy Kerschner is sure to be a hit, as well as returning favorites, Kinder Art & Clay with Susan Branco,  Kids in The Kitchen with Chef Chiwishi and young chef’s club on Friday evenings. We are also continuing to partner with Radnor Middle School and Agnes Irwin School on after-school culinary clubs this fall.  If your child attends one of these schools, be sure to ask for information!

Teen Artists are invited to explore our Adult/Teen options, including Adult & Teen Figure Drawing with Michael Doyle on Monday evenings, Adult& Teen Draw & Paint with Nathan Durnin, and Adult & Teen Pottery with Mathew Courtney on Saturday mornings. No matter the class, your little artist’s natural creative instincts will be encouraged through a variety of projects designed to stimulate the imagination.

NEW this season: the Wayne Art Center will begin offering a special program for Preschooler’s.  Art Sprouts: Pre-School Arts Enrichment will give families a chance to supplement their child’s regular pre-school program, or begin their young preschooler’s education with a fine arts based program.  Classes meet one or two days per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:30AM-11:30AM in Studios 4 and 5.  Age appropriate art projects, gallery tours & themed ‘special guest’ dates (including drama, music, yoga & cooking) will introduce learning concepts from a fine arts standpoint, enhance creativity & exploration, all in a supportive & nurturing environment.  Story & snack time during each session.  Please dress your young Picasso in play clothes appropriate for art making!

For students unable to commit to a full session of classes, Wayne Art Center will continue to offer a range of workshops & special activities for kids and families, including: Two for Art: TRY IT workshops on Saturdays throughout the session, as well as Family Day of Clay!  Mother & Daughter Jewelry Days, Fall Festival Mini-Workshops, School’s Out Day Camps, and a Holiday Drop & Shop/Fine Craft Vendor Day on December 14th. We also have several fun family culinary workshops scheduled in our beautiful kitchen: Design & Decorate a Haunted House, Kids Cook Thanksgiving Dinner, Holiday Gingerbread House Decorating, and more!

Whatever your class or workshop, we look forward to welcoming back new and returning young artists this fall!  As always, we are dedicated to enriching our community through the arts.
