Engineers Without Borders: Local Engineers Bringing Water to Developing Countries

The Wayne Rotary Club presents Shasta Moore of Engineers Without Borders who will describe current efforts to provide water in Miramar, El Salvador. The public is invited to learn about an international drinking water challenge as well as what local service organizations can do to address such challenges. A 3 course dinner is available for $20. Contact Patrick Gurian at pgurian@drexel.edu with questions or to register.

Engineers Without Borders – USA is an organization composed of professional and student chapters throughout the US with the goal of partnering with developing communities worldwide to meet their basic needs via engineering projects. Mirarmar, El Salvador, a refugee village in El Salvador, is home to a couple hundred people and lacks basic infrastructure, including an established water system. Wells have been dug in the village, but the water has been shown to be contaminated. Drexel University’s chapter is working to design and implement a water distribution and purification system for the village.
