Planned Parenthood's Chester County and Main Line Autumn Community Gathering

Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania is pleased to announce two nationally-known reproductive rights champions, Sarah Weddington and Sandra Fluke as the keynote speakers for Planned Parenthood’s Chester County and Main Line Autumn Community Gathering in Villanova on Thursday, November 15th.


A nationally known attorney and spokesperson on leadership, Weddington is well known for her work on issues affecting women in her many roles as attorney, legislator, presidential advisor, and professor.  In her first book, A Question of Choice, Dr. Weddington detailed the landmark Roe v. Wade case, which she successfully argued before the US Supreme Court in l973.  In 1980, she received Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Margaret Sanger Award, its highest honor. She has been featured in Working Women, People, and the Washington Post, and has been a guest on The Today Show, Good Morning America, CBS Morning News, and CNN.


A public interest advocate, Sandra Fluke received national recognition when she testified before the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee on the need to provide access to contraception. She has since spoken and written about this and other issues of concern to women and young people in major media outlets including The New York Times, Washington Post, TIME Magazine, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, and CBS television.  Ms. Fluke recently graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center as a Public Interest Law Scholar with a Certificate in Refugee and Humanitarian Emergencies.

All proceeds will benefit Planned Parenthood’s reproductive healthcare, education and advocacy programs and services in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
