Louella Mansion Renovation

Concerned about the Louella court mansion renovation

Has anybody thought about the environmental and human effect that the dust from the sandblasting is having?

Drove by today and the amount of dust from who knows what has accumulated through the layers of paint and stucco that building has seen for decades.

Aen't there laws in place to protect the surrounding areas from this type of hazard? Such as proper diposal?

Any ideas?

I know "wet" sandblasting, adding water at the end of the nozzle, greatly reduces the dust leaving the site. I thought that process was necessary in Radnor if any other buildings were within 150 feet. I hate to think what is in that dust.

Just searched asbestos in stucco and in the 70's they used asbestos in stucco. So I am sure some of that dust contains asbestos and probably a little lead from paint as well. Nice.

They should have definite things they are to stick to if there is ANY possibility of asbestos. However, I definitely feel for you because when a developer came into my old neighborhood and was tearing two houses down we did not see any huge precautions (unless of course we thought it was supposed to be something it wasn't). Same when Bryn Mawr Hospital took down those neighborhoods for their monster garage and other structures. Have your neighbors gone to Radnor with any concerns? Maybe a bunch of you should go to the next meeting. Spingler will undoubtedly try to shout you down, but you should be heard. Bring pictures.

Glad the Dems are realistically planning for the future. It's also encouraging to know that all ofRead More the candidates actually have children in the public schools. Can't say the same about the Republican ticket which sure says something....

Gee Catherine perhaps you could explain & list the "realistic" plans in the Dem budgetRead More that were excluded from the Repub budget. Would also be interested to know why having children in Radnor Schools is a good thing....I'd rather have representatives who have pertinent experience and perhaps have grown children who have already been through Radnor....do senior executives or Board members of corporations have children in their company's? What is the benefit to the school children or the Township?

“Reckless Plan”?? Radnor voters are owed a substantive, fact based and civilRead More conversation on issues relevant to them and to Radnor. Histrionics like this don’t serve this purpose but perhaps the following facts will: 1. Under Democratic leadership, this Board has voted in favor of tax increases over the last three years that have resulted in surpluses of $14,000,000. Left unchecked, that would amount to almost $47,000,000 over ten years. 2. The budget that Ms. Michaelson, Ms. Booker, Mr. Link and Mr. Falcone and I supported would have given some of this back to Radnor taxpayers and made it less likely that the next three years would have resulted in another $14,000,000 in surpluses. 3. This budget would also have done this while maintaining current programs and class size, continuing to invest in teacher development, funding needed technology investments, providing for enhanced security, expanding resources for social services, funding better communication with our community, and doing all this while anticipating upcoming needs. Not one single program would have been cut.
